Second drop of adidas Originals by Craig Green to launch globally on July 2.

– Two further styles that celebrate the history of design at adidas

– CG Polta AKH I and CG Graddfa AKH focus on a sneaker’s anatomy and skin

The second drop of adidas Originals by Craig Green celebrates the history of sneaker design at adidas with a technique that Green calls “ghost layers”.  The two styles merge iconic adidas silhouettes, as well as playing with signature adidas designs. The result is two innovative sneakers first debuted at Green’s spring/summer 2020 show during London Fashion Week Men’s in June 2019, launching globally on July 2.

Both styles capture the essence of both adidas Originals and Craig Green, with Green using his fascination with anatomy to pay tribute to the adidas heritage. Once again, Green has created a campaign with his longterm collaborator Dan Tobin Smith, dissecting the silhouettes and turning them into sculpture-like forms.

“These sneakers are a celebration of the history of adidas, its construction and design,” says Craig Green. “It’s about experimenting with elements of the past to create new forms, looking at skin and anatomy.”

CG Polta AKH I overlaps two iconic adidas silhouettes, the Boston Super and Samba, with a translucent ghost layer that reveals one beneath the other. For Green, it was about showing the uniqueness of each adidas design, especially the differing angle of the iconic 3-stripes between the silhouettes. The ghost layer effect is achieved by printing a base layer, then bonding it with the upper printed translucent layer, like seeing the anatomy through skin. The sneaker is finished with metal eyelets as well as the adidas Kamanda sole.
CG Polta AKH I comes in three colourways: brown/white, light grey/white, black/grey/white.

CG Graddfa AKH celebrates the adidas Kamanda sole by letting it grow to cover the whole body of the sneaker, seamlessly from the sole to the upper. This transluscent adidas Kamanda skin is injection moulded onto a lightweight base layer, printed with the adidas 3-stripes. For Green, the ghostly adidas Kamanda layer is like the skin a translucent reptile.
CG Graddfa AKH is also in three colour options: white, red or carbon and black. Both silhouettes will be finished with adidas Originals by Craig Green branding on the tongue and heel.
